I’ve noticed that of the episodes so far, Vault of the Bone Thief continues to get the most downloads. Why is that, I wonder? If anyone would like to share what they like about that episode in particular, that’d be great.
When I’ve got Episode 6 up (which is on schedule for next week), I’ll be revisiting the Vault to put together a (hopefully much) better mix, and I’ll also get it out on Bandcamp for high quality downloads.
Meanwhile, back to the cold war and numbers stations for me.

So I said to myself, “Doubtless this is the Paradise promised for the world to come.” Then I loaded me with the jewels of its gravel and the musk of its dust as much as I could carry, and returned to my own country, where I told the folk what I had seen.
Here’s what I’m planning for this year’s podcasts:
- Longer episodes. I’d like to see the 3-4 song average go up to a 5-6 song average (for a very liberal definition of “song”).
- Higher quality. I’m working on getting a better-sounding mix.
- More updates. I released 5 episodes last year, and I’d like to at least double that for 2011.
- EP release. I’ll be breaking down each episode into individual tracks and releasing them separately in addition to the podcast.
Onward!
Where have I been? Well, I’ve been spending the last month or so working on original music for Normandale’s production of Arabian Nights. It’s shaping up to be a fun show.
That music is about finished, so I’ll be getting the next Audio Wanderer episode together over the next couple of weeks. As might not be surprising, there’s a Middle Eastern theme.
I’m still putting Episode 4 together, which should be up this week.
In the meantime, I’ve set myself up at Bandcamp, where you can download Found in Books (from Episode 0) and Alarm Party (from Episode 2) in the file format of your choosing.
I updated PodPress and broke the podcast. Let’s see if I can fix it.
Edit: Right then, it should be working now.
…only fool. I thought I’d be able to get the next episode out this month. I was mistaken.
Audio Wanderer will continue in May. Next stop: interstellar space.
Here’s what I’m currently using to create the podcasts:
- Cubase 4 running under Windows XP.
- Halion and Spector soft synths (included with Cubase 4).
- Fatar Studio 88 plus controller keyboard.
- M-Audio Midisport 2×2 MIDI interface.
- M-Audio Delta 66 sound card.
- Behringer Eurorack UB1204FX-Pro mixer.
- Audio Technica ATR30 and Nady SP-5 microphones in the basement studio.
- Zoom H4n Handy Recorder for field recordings.
I plan on moving to a Mac system when I replace my current aging desktop PC, and I’ve got my eye on some better microphones.
Thanks for dropping by. There’s not much to see here yet, since I’m still putting the site together and the first podcast won’t be released until January February, but please make yourself at home.
